What Team does not do: it is cooperative enforcement, not a cloud proxy on every call. A teammate who is not running Toolport is outside team policy. We say so here so you do not find out later.
The app needs no account. A Free account is what you get when you sign in without paying. Self-host is the same Teams server, run on your own machines.

Without Pro, each machine is its own setup. Add a server on your laptop and your desktop never hears about it. Pro keeps one server list for all of them: sync a server from one machine and your others pick it up, asking once before anything new runs. $5 a month, or $4 a month billed yearly.
Not the keys themselves. Pro syncs your server list and config history; keys stay in each machine's keychain. Point a server's key at 1Password, Doppler, Infisical or Vault and every machine reads it from there, so there is nothing to paste twice.
Toolport stores upstream credentials in each person's OS keychain and sends them to their configured upstream server when needed. Teams is designed to sync configuration and credential references, not upstream credential values. It strips recognized secret fields and rejects known secret patterns; do not paste secrets into shared commands, URLs or instructions. Security details
That shares a file, not a setup. Each person still pastes keys, each agent wants its own format, and nobody can see who has what. Team keeps one list, per-person sign-in and an audit log.
You get one trial per account, Pro or Team, with no card. When it ends without a plan, you are on Free: every device keeps syncing for 14 more days, then sync narrows to one device you choose. Nothing is deleted, and the app keeps working on every machine. On a team, existing members stay, but new people cannot join until you subscribe.
Yes. The desktop app is MIT and works with no account. Audit logs export to CSV. You can run the Teams server yourself with Docker.
Policy covers calls that go through Toolport. Policy reports show what each person's app says it applied; they are not device attestation.
